The Cadbury Fund

Unfortunately, some racing greyhounds have injuries and special needs requiring special veterinary care such as broken bones, torn ligaments as well as other serious injuries or disorders.

While it's likely to be the end of their racing career, there's nothing to prevent these dogs from making wonderful pets other than needing additional funds for veterinary and specialist costs and time to heal. These dogs can make a good recovery with the proper medical care and enjoy a normal life once they have healed from their injury. It takes time, money and dedicated foster homes to rehabilitate these dogs.

4 Greyhound Racers maintains a separate fund for greyhounds that come to us needing exceptional veterinary care. Known as the Cadbury Fund, it was established in 2013 to help with funding for vetting 4GR's initial haul of greyhounds as well as to memorialize a wonderful greyhound named Cadbury who died unexpectedly at the age of 4 as a result of an uncommon disorder. Sweet, friendly and gentle, Cadbury was deeply loved in his short time and will always be missed dearly. His memory, and that of other loving dogs, gives life to greyhounds who may not otherwise get the chance. Since its inception, the Cadbury Fund allows 4 Greyhound Racers to take in injured and special need dogs and pay for their veterinary care and place them in loving adoptive homes.

Funding is always a concern, and you can help us continue to help these special need dogs by making a contribution to the Cadbury Fund. Your donation will help with our veterinary care or emergency medical needs of greyhounds coming into our adoption program.
